He has been living his life now
She is not part of it any more
But he still thinks of her forever more

The letter was a surprise
She said good bye in a sad way
He was depressed and went to meetings every day
But he never spoke of her in an ugly way

One month ago she was in a store
He wanted to go and hold her once more
Feelings of joy rushed through his soul
But then he noticed the man next to her

He reacted with a yell
Then turned his head and almost fell
She glanced his way
But he fled quickly away

The bar was a few blocks
A drink will calm him as it did before
Perhaps a light one will soothe his throat
But he heard a name from long ago

As he turned, he thought a moment
Will he start sobbing in front of her?
Oh why after so many months—ready or not
But this was it the first stepping stone

He acts surprised with a grin on his face
She says a simple hello - you look the same
He puts out a hand to shake hers
But she laughs and hugs him instead

Silent now the world seemed
No one there but her and he
They let go and look once more
But all he could do was smile at her

No words were spoken from out of his mouth
He thought great what a start
The man from afar had called her name
But all he could do was whisper the phrase

She listened carefully as he spoke
She began to cry as she stood there
But she knew this was his good bye as he left her
“You filled my void with your soul, love, and touch”

Beautiful poem! This shows the healing process from the break-up, to the excitement as he sees his love again, to the satisfaction of being able to say goodbye. This hits close to home and I thought it was written beautifully.

europeanprincess, The message within this poem is heartfelt as I am certain that many will be able to relate to it. A parting of love once shared between two is extremely difficult by any means as we all know that once a love is blossomed its a part of ones heart and being forever. Now I want to Thank You for sharing your wonderful poetic literature with all of us and especially for giving us a little of yourself. Might I ask that you may always allow your poetic pens ink to flow so your beautiful words of poetry may always grow.

Your Dear Friend
Mickey Pig Knuckles

Beautifully sad, the truth of the situation how the world works. always wanting, then you lose, then you know, but for some reason you just can never go back.
Great write
