Array ( [sid] => 132358 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => To My Daughter [time] => 2007-03-04 04:25:26 [hometext] => This poem was written for my daughter prior to her upcoming marriage. [bodytext] => A little girl, so small and so sweet,
Came into my life to make it complete.
A precious bundle, so soft and so new….
I wanted one daughter, but God gave me two.
I always wondered how it could be
That I was so blessed, why God chose me…
To be your mother, to help give you life.
The ultimate love of a husband and wife.

Watching you grow into who you are now
Has been such a joy, though I’d wonder how
I could manage each day to do what was required.
I was always so busy and just plain tired.
I wish I could see you again at each age.
Time flew so fast, I wish every stage
Was just like a movie I could play just for me—
I’d listen more closely, and I’d really see…..

I’d savor each moment; I’d listen with care
To your questions and fears, each of your prayers.
I’d watch as you learned how to live and to love,
I guess much as God watches us from above.
I’d see how God shaped you, all of your life—
How he’s prepared you to become a wife.
God has been working on you, but you see,
God’s also been doing a work on me.

This time is so sweet, a mother’s dream come true
That God brought a wonderful man to you.
But, it’s hard to let go, change is just hard for me.
Life is a circle and now I see……
A gown up woman, so precious and sweet,
Who came into my life to make it complete.
It’s your turn now, my daughter, my love---
To accept your gift from our Father above.

Soon you’ll be a beautiful bride
And this mother’s heart will swell with pride.
You’ll start a new life, the circle will grow,
And, someday, God willing, I just know….
You’ll be a Mother, you’ll help give life—
The ultimate gift to a husband and wife.
A precious bundle, so soft and so new….
A beautiful daughter, just like you.

It is not only "A precious bundle, so soft and so new…."
but also a bundle filled with love and emotion of a mother. Wonderful write "mother"... there is no better way to say to a daughter how important she is and how precious she is in a mother's life.
I truly enjoying reading it.

FRANCO

I wish I had written this beautiful piece for my daughter. I am sure this will bring tears of pure love to her eyes. Excellent piece.

A beautiful heartfelt dedication so warm and sweet as to come alive in tears and swells in the breast. This would be lovely in silver thread embroidery on a quilt for your granddaughters to be swaddled in.

Bravo

Peace
