Perfect dreamer
close your eyes
fool yourself with lullabies
Choose your visions
self deceive
in your world of make believe

Perfect dreamer
close your ears
only she who worries, hears
Safe and peaceful
go to sleep
deaf to hearts you've caused to weep

Perfect dreamer
close your mind
those who think will surely find
Life is tougher
than it seems
Just keep hiding in your dreams...

Foolish woman
heart of stone
doomed to live your life alone
How much longer
can you fake
happiness when you're awake?

Hmm, Larry, some people do seem to be able to live lives of self deceit and conceit, oblivious or indifferent to the consequences. Well captured observations, within a smooth but insistent metre and excellent word choice.

"Perfect Dreamer" is absolutely brilliant.
I can relate so much to this.
It's easy, in some ways, as long as you know, that at the end of the day, you'll get to go back, to your dreams and your sleep. Lose yourself in your fantasies. Weep not, your heart is happy in your mind.

You had this reader with the first stanza, Larry. I've been trying to comment on this for a while now... and finding it near impossible to do so. It's a powerful piece. An incredibly powerful, well executed (as always) and all-too-real piece. And it's sad. For everyone... it is.

Always moved,
~Snemmy

Larry ... this is so exceedingly sad. My heart breaks
just reading this ..

Those last three lines ... God, they are just so painful -
for more reasons than I care to think about or
mention. I feel the suffering within the words ..
and it is difficult to process, without literally falling apart.

I love this Larry. It is amazing. Truly amazing~

let me send daisies to the rose bearer .. for I feel daisies
are such happy flowers .. you can't help but smile when
you see a field full of them. :)

Merry Christmas to you and all the best for 2007

~Breezy

for some of us..dreams are a shelter and we need to duck into our dreams when reality is throwing rocks at us. Who wants to be bruised with life when they can duck into a dream? This write was powerful and brought tears to my eyes.

I really liked how you made the first half of your poem very soft and delicate and the last few lines cold and brutal. The sharp contrast makes me feel as if I’d been suddenly woken from a slumber. Very creative and effective. Once again, another excellent write.

Wow. Impeccably written, Larry! Such a lot of feeling found its way into these carefully crafted words. I'm impressed indeed.

A powerful write. I could use this piece to send in a card to some very self absorbed people I've stumbled across through life.
The line-deaf to hearts you've caused to weep-being my favourite.
