As it grew darker
Her small heart, beating slower and slower
Shivering from the cold
With matched clenched in her hand
She strikes them one by one

The little girl barefooted in rags
Curled up in the corner
The cold wind blowing in her face
She began to cry her tears

As the frost covered her skin
She lay there thinking
Of a better place for here
That would be nothing like this

Ride upon a shooting star
Ride towards the sea again
I will be free soon enough
Let me carry you there
Ride upon a shooting star
Like a melody in the wind
My heart does beet faster now
As you pull further away

The moon peaks behind the clouds
And the sky clears up
A dim light appears from the corner
As she strikes a match on the wall

She then dreams of her world
Where it’s filled with warming love
As the match burns out in the wind
The little girl strikes another one again

Ride upon a shooting star
Ride towards the sea again
I will be free soon enough
Let me carry you there
Ride upon a shooting star
Like a melody in the wind
My heart does beet faster now
As you pull further away

Ride upon a shooting star
I will be free soon enough

In the morning it was all a dream
She left behind her melody
They found her, her matches all spent
There she was smiling on the ground dead

Ride upon a shooting star
Ride towards the sea again
I will be free soon enough
Let me carry you there
Ride upon a shooting star
Like a melody in the wind
My heart does beet faster now
As you pull further away

Ride upon a shooting star
Like a melody in the wind
My heart does beet faster now
As you pull further away
