I am an arm-length away
Close to you now
I can feel your warmth escape
Touch my hand with yours
As the touches float into decay
Connect yourself
To something special
Something worth remembering
In and of itself

Think of me
When your surroundings beg for attention
In your thoughts
I need your hearts protection
Supplant me in your dreams at night
Associate me with everything right
Nothing wrong with letting it all out
I can only think of a kiss
While you prefer the bite

Speak to me
When spoken words seems flimsy
Confide in me
When confidence is shattered
Allow me
To make you feel like you matter
You are all that matters
To me
I am flattered
I am broken and battered

Trust in me
To be honest and true
Believe me
When I tell you
Just how much I love you
Just how much you mean
In amounts obscene
Exorbitant words are in need
To describe my every waking moment
My everything
Is crashing all around me
Quickly dissipating into reality
A commonality we share
We know not what we want
Until it is no longer there

it's discomforting to see that a dozen or so comments
haven't been given to this piece. I love it and could
only wish i'd have the talent to produce something
close to it. I thought the rhyme and poignancy of what
you wrote is beyond exceptional.

my absolute favourite couplet would have to be

"I can only think of a kiss
While you prefer the bite"

among the many other wonderful lines, this one
just seemed to stare me in the face... demanding
my attention. Keep up the fine writing!

I see hints of your profession in this piece, albeit probably not done intentionally, it's just who you are. That's meant to be a compliment btw : ) I found a lot of relatable content in here as I sifted through the words, and pondered the meaning. I think life can be quite cruel at times, even when it is seemingly being kind. Well, we at least learn from our mistakes, but regret is an ugly (but often accompanied) side effect...Well spoken piece.
