Even when death is close behind
Never close your eye
Even when the dark beckons
Never tell a lie
Even when the situation reckons
That you ought not be open
That you stay strong
That you stay alive with emotion

Never say I didn’t try
Or that it was I
Who drove you away
Who made you, undo your welcomed stay
Never say you cared
That you were always there
That you lifted a finger
When I felt my despair
That you took that picture
Just to frame your done-up hair

Never say I didn’t warn you
Fair notice was advanced
Fair treatment was immense
And due process was engaged
I left you with my safety
Placed right in your frail, bony, hands
Never say I didn’t trust you
Never say, you never glanced

Never admit
Your weakness
Or your faults that contribute
Or the pain you attribute
To the cause of your dispute
To the root of your insensitivity
Partaking in such a slimy activity
Never say, I never showed you pity
Never believe, you are, where you are, miraculously

Never confide
In someone else again
Never talk about it
Never even mentioned
Never the possibility
Of returning home
Of complete redemption
Of immaculate conception
Or a virgins sexual determination
Of stealing another breath
Divine intervention
In the shadows of the depths
Where the reptiles lay their eggs
And the trapped caveman begs
For civilization to accept
Never say die
And you will never feel your death

  • Woah, I don't know what to make of this.

Probably because it's so late here,
but at least I know I like the snappy rhythm to this.

I think the powerful ending was also an asset to this piece.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Kat.
