I wonder what she’s thinking
as she looks upon the ground?
What is that thing that amazes her?
What is this thing she’s found?

The pigeons stare in simple awe
as she bends to claim her prize;
that baseball cap could never hide
the sheer excitement in her eyes.

Is it a rock, a leaf, a blade of grass,
a crawling bug, or a diamond ring?
I wonder as I watch her grab
this most amazing thing.

She picks it up, and runs to me
with it firmly in her hand
“Daddy, daddy look at this!”
It was a melted rubber band.

I wish we could all remember
when little things thrilled us so,
so let us bless the little children
for giving back what we outgrow. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 233 [topic] => 43 [informant] => TwistedCage [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

I truly loved that that poem..especially this

"that baseball cap could never hide
the sheer excitement in her eyes."

It brings back so many wondrous moments with my kids. Thank you for bringing them back to the present. I just love your poetry.
