~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Twisted sheets and crushed pillows
No longer comfortable to lie here
With foggy leftover dreams
As the sun tries to climb out of bed so do I

Short nightie with butterflies and blue lace
A perfect foil for disheveled hair
Searching for slippers chased under the bed
An old gray sweater takes off the chill

Hum of crickets and an occasional chirp
Attempt to tell me that life goes on
Beyond the dark bedroom where I hide
Wishing someone would bring me a cup of coffee

But you won’t because you’re still snoring softly
Wrapped up in the warm blankets
Content to sleep late and ignore the early bird
I amuse myself writing words to the morning’s song

Wonderfully written! I absolutely love it! I have found myself in this position more times than most. I hope the morning's song is enough to make up for the sleep lost. Here it's not so joyful to be an early bird. Thank you for sharing! I'm looking forward to hearing... reading, more.

Wishing You the Best
~Karis~

Wow, I love this.

The images are so clear, and I even get that fuzzy, sleepy feeling from the words. It's like the poem is actually waking up.

Wonderful write.

*hugs*

Merry,

A neatly penned description of early morning dishevelry (probably not a word, but their should be a counterpart to late night revelry), sans morning breath, full bladder and crusty eyes. Deceptively mundane- the images are rich, peaceful, and oh so normal. Now, this is what I do when I get up.......(description deleted by Mod 62)
