where the child sits on the bench,
and the winds carry the fragrance of the wildflower,
she calls herself "the daughter of none",
though many had touched her,
she felt empty ..... a bottomless lonely feeling,
I asked her to turn so I could see her pretty face,
but she wouldn't, she kept planting roses in the rain,
she said "so love could carry her through time",
She hid today, behind her long brunette hair,
which was soaked from the falling warm rain,
she let out a teary-eyed laugh, to hide the pain she was feeling,
a mixed emotion when one is so young,
the kind of laugh that makes you want to reach out and hug her,
but there was that line between us,
she was my reflection, of yesteryears pain,
in search of a belonging,
back then she couldn't describe her feelings,
her only hope was to survive,
she knew somehow she would,
but it still felt cold and dark, bone-chilling,
then the wind blow,
and a small serenade from one of God's winged angels,
sang to her,
she knew that musical tune,
she closed her eyes and took in the precious moment,
then she watched the mother bird gather twigs for a nest,
she looked at me,
but there still was a cloud between us,
a gap, a distance, I must repair,
she had in her hands a small tiny toad,
she called him Prince,
he lived in the meadow, where the wildflowers grew,
and the white picket fence kept her safe,
I saw her today, and it hurts to watch,
she was after-all my reflection,
the lost childhood in the infinity cloud,
she was busy in her thoughts,
and her thin body made me cry,
she had not eaten for two weeks now,
and she was beginning to show fear of starvation,
thats why she won't look,
I passed time with her today,
in the meadow where the wildflowers
hang over the white picket fence,
she's trying to find a way in this God-given world,
I saw that in her eyes when she glanced at me,
I could feel her inner sorrows,
her thirst, her yearning,
she said to me again,
she was "the daughter of none",
that made me cry,
because I loved her,
and I wouldn't be here today without her,
she hid behind the cloud today,
in the garden, on the bench, out of reach,
where the wildflowers grow beneath the willow!

this poem is heart-breakingly, majestically, reminiscently and absolutely beautiful... if i may be so bold to attest, if this precious young, this "reflection" of you, is you... what a tribute to write for her, when you are now able... and to go back, to feel to pain that she/you once did, and "repair" it... self-healing poetry can often work wonders no doctor can touch... i tell you though, this poem has touched my soul...

It's only knowing what that brown eyed, brown haired, starving girl has become and the beautiful meadow that surrounds her and the love that awaits her that makes it possible for me to read your words.

You see Val I am an emotional clown hiding behined "the motley the paint and the powder"

You got your point across with beautiful language. I especially enjoyed "...She kept planting roses in the rain." I think we all do that at times. Just beautiful.
