It’s run down and dirty, but I’ve walked it before,
It leaves me degraded, bedraggled and lost,
But still I stumble down it, prepared to pay the cost.

There’s this road that I walk down, it leads me to you,
It’s deserted and twisting, but I have to make do,
It makes me feel hollow, and empty inside,
But at least the road is clear; there’s nowhere left to hide.

There’s this tube that I’m riding, it leads to your street,
It’s hot and it’s sticky, and standing hurts my feet,
It leaves me so tired, and gasping for air,
But I’m thinking of my destination, and the fact that you wait there.

There’s these stairs that I’m climbing; they lead to your bed,
They’re old and they’re squeaky, so softly I tread,
The day has been hard, as has my journey home,
But as I climb in beside you, I’m glad I’m not alone.
