Although they are as blue as the summer sky.
There lays a deep tragedy hidden in those bright puddles.
A sorrow that you prevent from surfacing altogether.

You talk so much, all of the time, and I listen carefully.
You never speak from the chaos in your heart.
But I can read your despair between the lines.
Even though your mind deforms your feelings into facts.

Your smiles are cautious, never radiant
Your bleeding heart speaks through your eyes.
They don’t smile when your lips utter shiny happy thoughts.
They speak the truth to any one who’s not too blind to see.

I cannot save you, but I could lead you astray any time.
So gullible and vulnerable, so easy to deceive.
You cling to me for recognition,
your dark mysterious acquaintance
Believing I could tell you how to alleviate the hurt

And it seems to me that you are waiting for this to end.
Waiting for some kind of divine intervention.
Then why did you turn to me as your saviour?
I could feel your disappointment
when you tasted my reluctance
The bitter taste of unfulfilled expectations.

I know of someone, he is a very unhappy man, vulnerable and so mixed up. This poem could have been written about him. It speaks volumes to me . Thanks for sharing it. An enjoyable , and very true write. Sue x

Wow, D, there are a lot of great lines in this poem. When i read somehing i really ish i wrote, i know its good.

"Even though your mind deforms your feelings into facts."

Expertly explained, this grabbed my attention and i had to re read it.

"I cannot save you, but I could lead you astray any time."

A beautifully spoken warning, i loved it a lot, and i thnk one of the best lines in the poem.

"when you tasted my reluctance
The bitter taste of unfulfilled expectations."

This was an extraordinary way to end the poem. its great.

this poem is potent and dark, and eriely beautiful.

xXx

I liked the twisted feel at the end. I found this to be an enjoyable read. It had a good flow to it. Thanks for sharing.
Peace, Laura
