Array ( [sid] => 123096 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => You Don't Really Know. [time] => 2006-07-12 23:25:40 [hometext] => I wrote this poem the night(which is tonight) I found out my mom had cancer. I said something very very heartless to her and my father told me. I was crushed. It's hard to believe that someone you rely on to be there every moment of your life may not be. [bodytext] => "You dont really Know.."

You don't really know what someone means to you,
Until you realise that they could be swept away in a moment,
They could be there one minute, and the next..lost.
You don't really know how to love someone,
Until you realise that nothing could replace them,
Theres only one of them, and you have to cherish that.

You don't really know what sadness is like,
Until you are hit with it,
Hit with the news of an unpleasant arrival.
You don't really know how to handle it,
Until you find yourself running to your room,
With tears in your eyes and guilt in your heart.

You don't really know if they will be there tomorrow,
Until you wake up, and you're alone,
Left with a hole in your heart.
You don't really know how long they'll be around,
If you'll see them grow old,
And they'll see you do the same.

You don't really know when the woman who gave you life,
Will be torn away from you,
awaiting you in heaven.
You don't really know how long it will be,
So why not make the time you have left...heaven.
Because honestly, you just dont know anything.

None of us know, my sister had cancer 21 years ago and is still here and well, there are much better treatments now... You have to be positive I hope your mum gets well and you help her on her road to recovery, sure you will. (((hugs))) xxx

I certainly know these feelings. Keep the faith as there's miracles and modern medicene can do wonders.
My mom didn't make it but that was over 25 years ago.
luv, huggs, prayer,

Your poem had me on the verge of tears. I think it was well written in your time of grief. I lost my life-long best friend to cancer, and your right, You just never know..
