People terminally ill but not allowed to end life prematurely to stop suffering. Something to think about. [bodytext] => In this life we are told,
Your body is your own.
You decide what you do
And allow on your body.

If you want a tattoo, you get one done.
When you want a haircut, you get it cut.
If you choose to drink it to pieces, you can.
When you choose to drive it off a cliff, it's your choice.

But when it comes to choosing when to end it
In times of terminal illnesses.
They tell you you're not allowed to
And have to suffer it out till the end.

Where does that leave,
Our ownership of our own body?
Cant they see,
Its our right to die, when we see fit.

This is a tricky one...

I'm not even exactly sure what my say is in it, anymore.

Anyway, your poem, I like the way you get your point across with your question, and points about freedom.

Good write, gives a person something to think about.

*hugs*

Good points here, Nat. I do agree, in cases of terminal illness, one should be allowed to leave this world in a state of peace if they wish to do so. I am not sure if I would go that route. I do believe it is an individual choice, though. Thanks for the mind thumping write. *smiles*
Peace, Laura

I have to admit Nats, that at first I was afraid to read this when I saw the title and I saw your author's note. Not that I don't love reading your poems...more so because this subject matter directly affects me. I wasn't sure if I could get through it without crying.

This is a powerful poem and very very thought provoking. You have done an awesome and challenging thing here. I applaud you.

Definitely thoughts to ponder.

Tim

First of all I applaud you for tackling a subject many people would steer clear of Nats.
I would agree with you, when life is at the point where there is no quality to it anymore, you should be allowed to choose to let go of it.
I hope that if I'm suffering then I too will be allowed to choose.
Steve

I just had to read it again. It made me think of my sister then and it makes me think of her today. She passed away fifty three days after you posted it.

The poem is ageless and the subject always though provoking.
