i couldn't tell what
i had a bad feeling
it tore at my heart

i heard the car
before i saw it
going too fast
heading for the sharp curve ahead

i ran outside
but it wasn't enough
i watched as my friends
hit the tree dead ahead

i felt the crash
the ground shook with impact
i ran and called the cops
but knew that it was just too late

i ran to help
i saw poor David
pulling Donald away from the wreck
but Ian was stuck with no way out

As David pulled Donald to safety
poor Ian had no chance
to even unbuckle his seatbelt
a kid not yet 18 was dying if not dead

the car blew
with shattering intensity
my friend was lost
among the screaming

the sirens came
but it was just too late
my poor young friend
was beyond saving

they took David and Donald
away in an ambulance
but poor Ian was still there
waiting for the flames to be put out

i wish i could have helped
i cried as police questioned me
all i did was watch
because i knew not what to do

a friend died
not because of beer or drugs
but because of fun and fate
and a curve that just didn't abate

i live with my sorrow
as does everyone now
as a young boy died
way before his time

not yet 18
was all that was heard
as i was lead back home
away from the road

he died too soon
no one should die like that
he had a great future ahead of him
and now nothing instead

i weep still for him
as he was a very good friend
i comfort his family as best i can
yet the sorrow still lives within [comments] => 4 [counter] => 195 [topic] => 55 [informant] => halli [notes] => Edited for spelling as requested - Moderator_16 [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => dedicatedpoems )

i can sympathize....just a month ago, two of my friends ended up in the same situation....neither of them made it....just hang tough....the Lord says to lay you burdens at His feet and He will carry the load....

So.So.... Sorry, Halli. A bad thing to happen to such a young age person, especially a dear friend.! I hate loss, yet it can not be explained for its happenings. HUGS to you, and know you will always keep a special place in the heart.!

Hugs.
Brew~
