lying flat on my back in the sand,
as vultures were circling right up above,
tried to cover my eyes with my hand.
as if made out of lead my arm wouldn't move,
so instead just closed tight my eyes,
then tried very hard to remember the fate,
of what caused me this desert demise.

My mouth was so dry and my lips were so parched,
that my tongue was beginning to shrink.
How did I get here? What did I do?
Why? Why? Why?... can't I think?
I cannot recall one single thing,
don't even remember my name.
Has my mind disappeared, is this how life ends,
or could there someone to blame?

The heat so intense that my chest is on fire,
each breath that I take is a flame,
those vultures now landing, and walking in rings,
as if dancing out some dying game.

I could read in their eyes, as their appetites grew,
I'd soon be their morsel delight.
they'd snip and they'd snip, until all flesh was gone,
leaving just bones to shine in the night.

A shadow appears to block out the sun,
for an instant I thought this the end,
and waited to feel those sharp piercing pains,
from which I could not defend.

But wait it feels cool,
like the clouds blocking sun,
as I'm trying opened my eyes,
a hand reaching downward from
the Heavens above, so this is how a man dies?

Suddenly that hand, shakes me so hard,
that it hurts me or so it might seem,
then a sweet voice cries out John! John! John!....

Good Write, it really makes you feel like you are there.
the feeling described is really good, when I read this I thought about bad nightmares of life in the past, and how everything seemed to be bad, but suddenly you realize not everything is bad, and you can "wake up" of this terrible time.

Thank you both for the kind words.
