Free from it will I ever be?
Light and darkness so deep within.
I thought I had it all figured out,
Thought I knew where I was going,
Thought I knew what I wanted,
Thought I knew where I was,
Thought I knew who I am.
But now I see I am afraid of who I’ve become,
Was I always like this and just blind to it?
Did I always possess this darkness?
Or is it the darkness that pocesses me?
Have I been so blind till now?
Was it all just an illusion in my mind?
Now I understand what you said.
Or do I even understand that?
The darkness calls me,
But the light holds on,
Which is passion?
And which reason?
When I feel happy, does that mean I am?
How did I get this far?
All these questions in my head and heart,
No ones fault but my own,
Yes its all my fault for who I’ve become,
This monster of distrust and anger.
But I thought I really knew myself,
Now I see I’ve known nothing at all.
No need to ask why,
What is simply is,
Though I have reasons for all I do and think,
That never makes anything more right,
Just more hard to stop.
So which will win?
Will I fall forever into the coldness of this darkness?
At times that is what I want,
Or will I be pulled out by the brightness of this light?
At times that is what I desire.
Or worse still will they forever be at war within me?
Where is this life going?
Will the war ever end?

Wow this was very hard hitting. Very good piece of work. Have written similar works in the past, i find it helped to deal with things, i hope it does the same for you.

When one figures out there is a war going on within (and without that we can't sense sometimes)--then you realize there are two sides--which side is right takes time to figure out. I pray the light will win!

Good write!

Your friend,

Linda
