Of all the power in my hands,
Of all the words that I command
A weaver of the world and things,
Still marvels when a stanza sings

With graceful arcs and guided will,
I raise the ideas from the page
Pull phrases from the stubborn quill,
Breathe life to thoughts and give them stage

Of all the beauty that springs forth,
The pleasure that I might inspire
It comforts me to touch a heart,
Or fill it with such sweet desire

Of all the sadness I create,
The painful elegies dark and wild
The mournful verses won’t abate,
They need to cry like any child

All my offspring shaped and said,
The constant renewal of living things
What’s painted afresh is never dead,
That’s the gift when poetry sings.

'Poetry is the journal of the sea animal living on land,
wanting to fly in the air. Poetry is a search for syllables
to shoot at the barriers of the unknown and the unknowable.
Poetry is a phantom script telling how rainbows are made
and why they go away.'

wonderful explanation, exploration of human flaws thinking that there are those who believe in gods, themselves being one, and does not believe in God. Too much love of self? Is that good.. to even think that you have all that power in order to make things work out.. on your own.. that would mean arrogance, yes, no.. many certainly can be rebellious..

very nice poem to establish contact with power or powers.. the only one who claimed to be God was Jesus.. and He certainly was God.. powerful almighty then and is now..

Many people do get caught up in that psychological mind fixation.

Great write.. a nice debate.. for some..

S~

First stanza! Oh WOW!! God, that was brilliant. I found
myself in eager agreement before I even read through
the piece once. You forever know who to capture a thought,
through words and phrases and simply necessitate them to
life. [as few can and do!] Your word choices are always perfect
and balanced. And although I mentioned the first stanza, (a
definite favourite in this), I adored the write ENTIRELY!!

"What’s painted afresh is never dead,
That’s the gift when poetry sings."

YES !! Undeniable insight, dear friend.
