Playing with my marbles, not hearing any sound,
Shirt sort of in, but sort of out and free,
My grey socks falling way below the knee.

This girl from a lower grade ambles up to me,
Nods behind her in a general direction see,
And said that she’s something she has to tell
“Over there, my friend fancies you like hell”.

I looked across as you would to see,
And this lass was blushing back at me,
Tallish and skinny with knock knees,
Blonde hair being tangled by the gentle breeze.

Walked over to her and told her my name was Ben,
She said “I’m Katie. Do you want to kiss me then”?
I thought long and hard and wiped my nose upon a cuff,
But as I came at her she said not to be rough.

“Kissing but no tongue if you will,
I’m only seven years old and not yet on the pill”.
Although nearing mid life at the age of nine,
I agreed reluctantly and said that would be fine,

We both closed our eyes and lips were pursed,
But alas the arrival of that first kiss was cursed,
Just as we were close to getting used to each others smell,
So teacher beckoned us to the schools afternoon hell.

Two classes of really boring sums and history,
Wondering if in that time she’d at all missed me,
Later on perhaps she’ll kiss me behind the bike shed,
But if not I wont worry, just play with my marbles instead.

Very cute write.
I use to play marbles when I was a kid. I still find one now-n-then,
