[bodytext] => What happened to the toe tappers of old, When men wearing make-up seemed so bold, Girls in short skirts, long kegs were all around, And we danced to disco and Motown sound. The clothes we wore looking back make us cringe, In those days I not only had hair but a fringe! Tank tops, rather odd facial hair, a pair of loons, Dancing very silly to all the favourite tunes. All the words of all the songs came through so clear, Well, they seemed to after a certain amount of beer, Lads and lasses joining in, all singing along, Totally oblivious to getting the words wrong. Although Elvis was still the King we began to sway, When Otis was sitting on the dock of the bay, But boy oh boy did we begin the swing, When the man Bo Diddley started to sing. The days may be gone but they stay in my mind, The songs, the singers, my friends and their kind, I may shed a tear or two but a smile comes through, Those old days were good for me and you.
