Spread the curse among the ghetto dwellers
Confirm my words you sycomphantic fortune tellers
Is this the world of beauty You created?

Love and peace smack of nostalgic sixties trips
As new age philosophers shake fat Madonna hips
And just war graffiti decks the Gulf-bound ships
To spoil,cheat,lie is to what our world seems fated

Integrity and wholeness - Yours and Yours alone
I long to catch a glimpse of all of what You've shown
Remove this blind futility,its all that I do own
I thank you God. You love all that I have hated

I will not sing trite hyms as escapist interlude
The death of Jesus is more than a trivial tabloid feud
It's real blood and pain (our moral guardians would term it lewd)
And it's in all this that You and I first related

So all these years later the spell is not broken
Forgive me Lord that I used You like a gambler's token
All of what I feel is only part of what I have spoken
Accept my outstretched hands even though they come belated [comments] => 2 [counter] => 540 [topic] => 11 [informant] => TREBOR [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 12 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => ChristianPoetry )
