Array ( [sid] => 111290 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Thank You [time] => 2005-12-11 14:55:35 [hometext] => I wrote this after an extremely hard and emotional night in which a really good friend of mine helped me from falling back into an old addiction and letting me get some sleep. Thank you Kevin [bodytext] => I felt that itch, that burn, again
You refused to let me scratch
My whole body shook uncontrolably
You wouldn't let me give in
My stomach was tied in knots
You denied me

Your voice
Too many miles away
Stopped my from retreating
You made me face my pain
You didn't give in

You made me look a little deeper
It hurt so much worse
You made me knock down my walls
The blade was sitting right there
I had to open up old wounds
It's so much easier to cut them away

You listened as it all came out
It doesn't matter as long as everyone else is happy
You kept quiet in all the right places
I become what they want me to be
You gave me another option

And now I lay here content
With no new scars to show
It's the first time I remember
Not cutting these feelings out
I can sleep [comments] => 0 [counter] => 210 [topic] => 55 [informant] => jessie53067 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => dedicatedpoems )

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
