I take the biggest sigh
todays another day.
From the corner to the center
my mirror has a crack.
I stare at my reflection
and see obesity staring back.
I can't sleep or eat
all i think about are calories.
Pictures of skinny beautiful girls
flood my photo gallery.
I want to be skinny
and beautiful like the rest
ignoring all complaints
of already being able to see my ribs right through my chest.
"Skin and bones is all you are!"
is what my family say
but they don't see me the way i do

You know, you shouldn't live up to society's expectations. Conformity only makes things worse, more guidlines, bounderies you don't need it. An honest write.

A solid and convincing 1st person account of anorexia. Technically though, starting the fourth line rhyme 6 lines in changes the rhythm dramatically - better to set the rhythm and metre in the first couple of lines and run with it to the finish. Line 16 is a bit overextended as well. Hope you don't mind the critique, it's part of why we post. I still really enjoyed it.

I hope this is just a poem and not reality.Anorexia makes girls ugly--skin & bones. It is truly a sickness. You have nicey pointed this out.
