and the heartlessness of man
became inexcusable
the pride taken in such matters
was looked down upon

for even eyes such as these could pity us

This is intersesting...I don't know if it was done purposely, but it would appear as though your title and the last line contradict each other. It is a cute write though...short, sweet and to the point, those are my favourite. Good work, keep it up

This is a fine inter-play on the event horizon of reason.
Understanding what a heart maybe is not a prerequisite just to get at the line:
"and the heartlessness of man..."

Since without a heart this is little room for words and reason so I think this poem neatly sheds a light there.

I too have met that ever growing population of 'living heart donors' which this poem speaks to. Thats my take on it.
