Array ( [sid] => 109666 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The Plants In My Garden [time] => 2005-11-13 18:38:06 [hometext] => ...photography is my second love...there is a photo of my youngest kneeling beside some shrivelled broccoli plants in our garden out back...the tenderness of her whole being while she reaches out and touches the dying plant was the inspiration... [bodytext] => I feel sorry for the plants in my garden,
when summer comes to an end,
and fall begins…

A lot of people feel fall is a glorious time…
a time when nature dresses in her finest,
a time when she digs deep into her wardrobe,
pulls out her most colorful gowns,
and for a few days
explodes in celebration…

That's true for trees,
I suppose…
But,
the plants in my garden,
they look so sad,
all droopy and dull…

At times
when they shiver beneath thin blankets of October frost
I think I even hear them crying…
whimpering from the cold…
weeping because the sun will no longer share his warmth…

It is a quiet, melancholy time for them and me.
I visit often…
silently stooping…
gently touching…
listening…

Then winter comes,
and they're gone.

I love gardens and gardening. I always feel sad when fall comes and the garden dies down... I know it is just the way of nature in many geographic areas, but it still is kind of depressing.
nicely done!
Jessica
