[bodytext] => I see the ghost in all its splendor
It speaks to me with open candor
‘Have you a way to go?’
I thought I knew
I looked to the West
I fell to me knees
Eyes tight
Clutching my chest
‘I know not,’ said I to the wraith
‘All I have left is a candle and faith’

‘Then little you have,’ said the apparition to I
‘For look to the West and look to the sky…’
‘…The night is birthing, as the day surely dies.’
‘This little light will burn for your way?’

‘I know not,” said I to the wraith
‘all I have left is a candle and faith.’

‘Then much have you lost,’ said this trickster to I
‘Your sword to the sand, your brand to the sea’
‘What have you left, to appease the demon in me?’

‘I know not,” said I to the devil’s disguise
‘I have a candle and faith and pain in my eyes’
‘I owe you nothing, know this to be true,’
‘not one week ago I sent my love to hell,’
‘my hate to heaven,’
‘and my hope to you.’

‘Then little you have,” thus spoke the wraith
‘I leave you, bid thee a good night,’
‘I have a home where it’s warm and brimming with mirth,’
‘come with me, would you, to my home in the earth,’
‘The night is birthing and the day surely dies,’
‘where will you go with this pain in your eyes?’

I shoulder my burden and winced with the weight
‘I must take your leave, dear wraith, for the hour is late,’
‘Long must I travel, unguarded by fate,’
‘and all I have left is my candle and faith…’ [comments] => 2 [counter] => 259 [topic] => 13 [informant] => p0rnstar [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

Brilliant! Simply outstanding! I do love the rhyming scheme, the meter and all, you kept them up well through the whole thing. You must be proud of this one.
Take care.
David
