To have fooled everyone
Not one person knows about
What to myself I've done
I pretend to be this happy girl
Yet sadly, it is not true
Even when I am laughing
Deep inside I'm feeling blue

I must be the best acttress
No one knows how I really feel
I have never once felt happy
And I doutb I ever will
I just hide my pain inside me
And say that I'm doing fine
that has to be my most-used lie
I've told it time after time, after time

I am retired now, I was an english instructor..

My husband runs into many students, and they tell him
"oh wow, she was really famous"

Remember this fact, even though you may not realize it, others do not ever forget you.

Yes, to a certain extent, many people feel they must put on a show to entertain others, showing a public self.

Most people have a hard time showing their true self.

But, when one leaves home, they should be the same person, going out of their door, and into the workplace door, or even going grocery shopping, or camping.

You are you, and be sure to let yourself be present, and not cover up a great thing that God has created.

great poem. i hope you find someone to talk to about your pain. whether it be a family member, friend, or complete stranger, you should talk to someone. keeping all that inside will break you down, i learned the hard way. best wishes.
