she flew wings spread,
glowing, as she soared,
confident, strong,
unbeatable.
A young child with
hopes and dreams,
ambition, imagination,
a heart for herself,
and to share with the world.
Never shy, although
small, she stood with
pride, always smiling,
brightening the day.
Until she lost all
her dreams, her
imagination scorned,
her wings ripped and burned,
pride shattered amoung
the floor.
The world she thought
she knew, was not
as it seemed.
Betrayal and hatred
to be learned at such
a young age, leaves scars.
Her heart she never
knew to gaurd,
her self she never
thought would be
punished in such a way.
She would no longer
soar above the clouds,
into unknown fantasy lands.
But hide herself, gaurd,
and shelter herself from
anyone, anything, that came to
pass. Such a fragile mind,
with no chance of
comprehending the
harm that she was caused,
learned to hold grudges,
against loved ones,
lessons, she learned,
should never be taught,
no one should have to gaurd
themselves for eternity,
only to open up once and
have there heart torn again,
shredded, smashed,
left bleeding, never ending pain,
suppressing her life,
so young, even as she grew,
still tainted to the day,
the pain never ceases,
the abuse never ends,
the scars never fade,
it'll always be there,
taunting, demons,
pulling, reminding her,
her wings,
will never grow back. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 236 [topic] => 65 [informant] => autumn_zephyr [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => toughstuff )

This was incredible Autumn!!!! Very powerful and emotionally vivid.

*lessons, she learned,
should never be taught,*.....I'm glad to hear you are aware of that. Stay strong - the reminders will always be there but your wings WILL grow back one day.

Huggss, john

great write. i like the sudden shift from happy and promising to dark and forlorn. i also like the use of "once upon a time" at the beginning. good job, keep it up.
