Array ( [sid] => 10550 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Who Will Comfort Me? [time] => 2003-01-16 20:40:00 [hometext] => I'm sorry if after reading this you don't understand it. I had to "purge". I understand it, and I guess that's enough for me. [bodytext] => Who will comfort me in the time of your death?
For it was I who held your hand when you drew your last breath
Your family gathered, swarmed around your bed
They fought and they squabbled like you were already dead
You were inside, squirming at the sight
It was I who ushered them from the room that night
It was I who whispered it was ok to let go
You couldn't hold on, your skin had that glow
They looked to me for answers but I certainly had none to give
In time I hope they'll learn to absolve and forgive
My downfall is my empathy, compassion and gentle nature
Because I do something they cannot, they elevate me to an unfair stature
My armor is my smile, kind words, open arms
At times like this, I feel they're curses, not charms
I absorb their pain and yours, as my own
As this happens, I feel lost so and alone
My heart bleeds for you as I internalize it all
But to ease your passing, through glass I would crawl
They don't see my tears at the end of the night
But they're there, so heavy, they steal my sight
They see a person in white, doing what they cannot
And once you are gone, they will have forgot
But tell me, who will comfort me at the time of your death? this is beautifully written, and although purged (and very intense because of this) it still has a great deal of clarity. Thanks for sharing.

PEACE
Max

I love it, as I was reading it sent a cold chill of realisation through my body, in the sence of almost getting a window in to you. I will continue to read on bu this one was the first to catch my eye. Very beautiful. Jimmy

This was completely mind blowing. I felt all of the same emotions when I lost my uncle, my best friend, my inspiration to life in May. They never saw my tears but what they did see was a girl dying to help everyone through the rough time. But every night the tears came and I broke down. And I wondered the same thing... I could comfort him and I could comfort everyone else but who would comfort me?

This hit home really hard and really made me wonder. -Amy
