We bite the lip and sigh
Held captive to its raging power
No use to even try
To fight the urge to leap once more
Into temptations flames
Addicted to the hellish fire
Of love and lust and games

One touch and it's a certainty
That we will both get burned
Forgetting all the hurt and pain
Each lesson that we've learned
Is scorched to dust 'til memories
Are eclipsed by desire
And once again we find ourselves
Addicted to the fire

What fools are we to dare the fates
We seem to crave the taste
The flavored kiss of passions lips
Will lay our souls to waste
We say that we know better now
But we are both a liar
And destined to forever be
Addicted to the fire

Some people love to live life on the edge. They seem drawn to fire like flies. Guess it is ok. Everybody to their own thing.

Bless you,
Petals all around,
Rita

Yes, I can understand the messages clear in this write..

Some fires will never burn out either..

Some fires have a short duration, others are eternal

The fire that burns in each of us is important.. keeps us warm and alive..

What is most important, *** DO NOT ***play with fire.. ***YOU WILL GET BURNED***if you do not keep it properly contained in a safe place...

There is much wisdom in your write..

Here are my questions:

Is it possible to have a deep relationship with more than with just one lover?

Can you fit it into your already ongoing relationship?

Is playing with fire with no intentions of making it last forever damaging to the soul?

Is fireburning your lifestyle?

Do we build fires to last a lifetime.. or do we just build one, when our hearts are cold?

Do we build one just to satisfy our own needs?

Do we enjoy the fire just for the fire, or are we playing with it?

Yes, why are some addicted to that which brings hell our way?

To some I suppose it does, and this is why we must be oh so careful in choosing our fires..

It appears to be when one fire burns itself out, we ask ourselves the question of, now what do we do.. Do we build yet another fire in its place?

I love your metaphor here.. this write is wonderfully approached.. Your write probably does send clear messages, it has a sense of very deep painful emotion in it..

The honesty is the recognized facts that burning fires can also be for one's own selfish enjoyment.

I think sometimes one does may do this in order to fill the gaps in their hearts.. sad to say, sometimes hurting ourselves and others are involved..

I am learning to control my fires.. My one big fire I built not long ago, is the fire in my heart..

Also I wrote a poem "Fire In My Heart" which you may be interested in reading in your spare time..

My LORD helps to keep my life's fires in total perspective.. all things are possible with Him

But I have often heard the messages spoken in movies, and in books and in real life..

about this fire... And spouses have ruined great relationships, and when the fires burned out, they came back to find a great loss..

Cheating on your spouse, stepping is dangerous.. and both get hurt yes, mainly though, cheating hurts yourself more... when you break committments..

Important relationships deserve attention... Open marriages do not work out.. I remember when it went into style in the early 70's..

And, we know, from the beginning of time.. there were a lot of secret fires going on.. once ablaze, everyone found out lol..

Saying the words "I love you" spoken as a lie is not wise. What do you benefit from it.. you only lead someone on.. pain increases.. wow..

Yes, it feels good when someone cares deeply about you... makes you want to be with that person..

My heart is one however that is deep, yes.. very deep.. but as I mature more... growing older, I understand the protection I need to give to my heart..

I I want and love a true lasting relationship, which is what I have been building in my relationship with my husband.

Your write truly elicits a lot of emotion.. yes, a lot of messages that one can learn by.. no need to read between the lines, its all there..

Thank you for posting, much enjoyed the journey you took me on... in the discovery of passions fire..

Once again you capture passion in the words of a poem. Temptation always has its price but then sometimes it's worth it.

Ah... but if we turn away from the fire once we've been burned, we'll never again see the flames dancing and will never witness their glow reflected from another's eyes. A fool, I prefer to be I think.

But then... you could probably have guess that I would say as much when I hit this page.

And... I half suspect that you would agree --- for in my experience, I've noticed that those write poems like this (stuffed full as it is of beautiful images and serving to prompt thoughts of love the shared moments it brings) are generally the ones who dare to chance the flames. *wink*

Beautiful, Larry... seriously so.

Some fires are meant to keep the flame alive. Some fade out till the spark is just glowing then pow the fire ignites with a few words a few text a few kisses so hot and steamy.. .like it never burned the first time around. Addiction oh yes my heart and soul have felt this painful sheer raw feeling this intense heat of passion.. this better stop here i could get carried away

Magnificent rose Larry
