Array ( [sid] => 103684 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => You Made Me [time] => 2005-08-16 22:19:46 [hometext] => This is my first post and it erupted out of me just moments ago. I'm not sure where it will end up, but it wanted out, so here it is. All I can say of it, is that it's true. [bodytext] => it has taken me half a lifetime
half my sanity
most of who I thought I was
to be able to say it
to admit it out loud

when I first met you
a thousand chords played in my head
and a truth was revealed
a truth that said you were my first
you were my only

you built me up, brick by brick
piece by piece
each day adding to a clean slate
each smile letting me know it was so
each time you said I love you, I believed

then came the little things
the moments got shorter
the conversations about less
the looks became fleeting
and touch was lost

You abandonded me
long before that final step
long before those heartless words
before I even knew there was a name
the minute you began to tear me down
you left, never to return

each joyful memory became a nightmare
every inner fire was snuffed
you killed the very core of me
that tiny little spark that made me
you smothered it

I believed the words, the lies
I took the blame, the fault
I knew I had failed
I wasn't enough
I wasn't anything

and now, half this lifetime later
my sanity battered yet true
when I'm just seeing who I can be
I say to you
you failed.
I am me. [comments] => 10 [counter] => 360 [topic] => 43 [informant] => Loende [notes] => (Edited by Mod_11 for spelling as requested) [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 62 [ratings] => 13 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

It is great to know that you finally realized that. We always seem to blame ourselves when something falls apart. It is not always necessarily our fault. Blessings and welcome to YPDC.

That verse about the millstone tied around the neck comes into mind as a good punishment.
I'll echo whatever Andrew said. In English, that is. He needs to stop saying things that only he understands. It's pointless. There, made you smile.
Take care.
David

I could feel my emotions shifting with the progress of the piece; playing the nerves and blood like an instrument in the hands of a poet savant. Joy, confusion, heartache, despair, reconciliation, affirmation. All those notes so pure, resonating through the heart of the audience.

Welcome, welcome, welcome.

this poem is a tidal wave of emotions. at the beginning it makes you feel all warm and happy and then it brings you crashing down to earth, with a thump. an excellent poem.

*sigh* They can't keep up that facade very long can they? The liars! You took defeat and turned it into victory! An excellent first post.
