Want to make a difference, like all others there are plenty,
But what can one girl do? To change what the world means?
Is anything possible? What can I make of my dreams?
Material things seem to make the world go 'round and turn,
Where has all the compassion gone? The flame that use to burn?
Whatever happend to kindness for others and respect?
I have a terrible feeling that in the near future we will regret,
We'll want to take the hate and rid of it's evil essence,
To love one another in the light of Gods' presence,
We only have so long to live, yet we're cruel and uncaring,
To ignore and deny God's calling, I think it's quite daring,
So I guess you could say this is my plea, simply from me to you,
Always listen to your heart, follow it and remain just as true,
The world would be so much better, if we tried to understand,
To be bigger people, to ignore the useless reprimands,
To stop killing people souls, just because they're not the same,
Because what we're really doing; is labeling our lives with shame,
We're only human beings, not Gods or immortal beings,
So live your life to the fullest and you'll gain a higher meaning,
I hope the world will one day accept when push comes to shove,
That all we really needed in the first place was simply love.

Simply Love

Stuck inside this body, just another number out of many,

I liked it. You had a few religious references which worked for the poem even though i am athiest. i liked that you used religion in the right dose. Great write
