the Shadow Children go..
In every street you're sure to
see them running to and fro.

They move around without a sound..
they're playing Hide and Seek..
but no one yet that I have met
has ever heard them speak.

Beneath the trees you often see
them dancing in and out..
and in the sun there's always one
to follow you about.

Go where you will..
they'll follow still
or sometimes run before,
where home at last they're standing fast
beside you at the door.

A faithful friend is they who'll lend
their presence everywhere...
Put out the light for bed at night,
your shadow's always there

Collected all, the shadows fall
across your face to keep
their shadow pact to make it black
and fill your eyes with sleep.

Shadow Children.... what a fabulous idea and how wonderfully you've expressed it here! This is, I think, the best example of well crafted personification that I've seen in quite some time. I adore that you didn't just refer to them as children and leave the there with nothing to do! You truly brought them to life!

I honestly don't know if I'll ever see my own shadow the same way again. Maybe, I ought to give her a name.... : )

Excellent work!
