With friends, family “support abundant
Lagging further behind
Trying to keep up
With the feelings inside
Then one day:
Full trolley, busy shop
Empty heart

She stops.

Just lets go
And cries
Cries for her lost life
Cries for her kids,
For the arguing all night
Cries for the husband
She can’t keep at home
With those “wobbly bits
She can’t keep at bay
Cries for hair;
A mess of matted straw
Tears coursing down her face
For loves she’s lost
Pounds she’s gained
Cries to show she actually cares.
Tears from a woman
Who’s always kept her feelings
Drowning in her heart
Just like teardrops
Falling from the moon

A bleeding rock,
Unexpected warmth
Proves its life
By forgetting its worth
Tear drops falling from the moon
Who knew? Who knew?

If you’re up at the palace,
All cameras and smiles
Pointing, chiding some poor guard
Trying to turn up his mouth
Then one sad fool takes it too far
Making a personal remark
“just for a laugh
Well, the words are irrelevant.
As the fact remains the same:
This guard’d had enough
Day after day
Being a penguin in a zoo
He retaliates, pulls a fist
And WHACK
It’s a controversy, a scandal
Headlines worldwide
He’s sacked in disgrace
There’s nowhere to hide
He did the unthinkable
Undoubtedly the worst
He got upset, showed emotion.
It doesn’t matter why
‘cause he’s supposed to be strong,
Solid, like a rock
And rocks don’t cry
Not a single tear should they lose
And if they did
Would we care?
Would we care if they began to spill
Fresh from the eyes of the moon?

Blood from a rock,
Warmth in the cold
Proves its life
By forgetting its class
Tear drops dropping,
Drop by drop
From the cold-hearted moon
Who knew? Who knew?

When something so distant,
So cold and so obscure
Draws closer and warmer
And obviously clear
You’ll feel Teardrops from the Moon
