Your Poetry Dot Com - When We Met

I remember so clearly the first time I laid my eyes on you
The rapid beat of my heart, like a thousand running feet
You with your soft blonde hair with eyes so crystal blue
I knew right then and there, I had to find a way for us to meet

I was shy, as I always am when I’m around a beautiful girl
Every time I felt courage it would ease away as you came near
Your skin looking so soft and smooth like an expensive pearl
Dazed by your beauty, I thought of all the things that I did fear

Oh my god! I think that she is staring right at me!
Do I have something stuck in my teeth?
How can she have my heart when I never gave her the key?
She must have stolen it right from under my sheath

Could it be possible that she could feel the same way that I do?
When I told her she was gorgeous she said “thanks” and gave me a smile
I don’t even know this girl yet, but I think I do, yes I know that “I love you”
For all I can see is you in that white dress walking to me down the aisle.

I had no doubt that you were merely an angel in disguise
I could tell you are equally beautiful outside and in
The kindness in you was shown through those big blue eyes
For I saw your soul and all the beauty held within

At first you really didn’t know what to think of me
Typical bad ass with baggy jeans and an eyebrow ring
But remember what you get is not always what you may see
It could be worse; at least I didn’t have any bling bling

I am so glad that you did give me a chance
I couldn’t live without you in my life
You’re my best friend along with the romance
I’m so glad you agreed to be my wife

It’s been over a year and a half
We are definitely soul mates
I love the way I can make you laugh
We are from two different states

I grew up in the suburbs of a big city
You are from just a small town
My life then wasn’t too pretty
Just a freak, looking like a clown

I was hanging out with the gang the Cripps
Trying to get rid of my troubles and doing lots of drugs
There were times I would have really bad trips
Thought they would always be there, just me and my thugs

Life has gone on, the times have changed, and so have I
I realized that I didn’t want to live my life that way
I want to have a wife, a family, a good job before I die
Loving you always even when you’re wrinkled and gray

I love how we understand each other so well
We met right when our worlds were going dark
Saved each other from our own personal hell
You are my joy, my light, my spark

With you I will always be
Our life together is just beginning
You are the perfect one for me
I’ll love you till the world stops spinning

I know this wasn’t the original plan
Twins is certainly not what I expected
Don’t worry I’ll get a big mini van
And make sure they are well protected

Everything and anything I will do to make you happy
I can picture you reading this with a smile on your face
