The body lying on her floor, the gun, the murder scene.
This frightened man must understand, what actually took place.
She’d killed a man, he knew not why. He ran, and she gave chase.

She hunted him across the town down alleys of the night;
Tracked him to a factory and stalked him toward the light.
Around the corner came his blow; he struck with all his might.
She lay lifeless on the floor; he held the bloody pipe.
In the distance, in the dark, stood the homeless man,
Frozen there in mortal fear—until he turned and ran.

That’s how it all began again, the hunter and the prey.
The morning papers tell the tale but haven’t much to say.
No motives and apparently, no witnesses at all.
Anyone who saw the crimes, please give the police a call.
