I don//'//t know how long I//'//ve been away from home.
I don//'//t know when I went from soaring to treading air.

I want to go back to the nest but it//'//s far away
And it//'//s not what it was. It//'//s not the same.

I don//'//t know when I left it.I just know I was kicked out,
Dropped into the wind by father time.

I asked him if I could go back.

He said nothing and he said something.

His unspoken answer was no and yes.

"You can go back to the nest," he said.
"But it will never be as it was before," he warned me.

He was right.

Once you//'//ve seen the world from the sky
Your wings become restless.
They ache for the winds unforgiving current
And sometimes for the briefest moment
The sky doesn//'//t feel all that lonely.
