what comes to visit in the night?
something desperate, between a dream and a prophet
it's the possibilities that cause you fright

the last war fell short, but no one noticed
there were empty fields, no need for tending
the time too lengthy with the soil near waste
nothing was ready until the drought saw it's ending

canopies of colorful canvas to block out the sky
placed in the market smartly for much needed cover
sell the sum of you inventory to those in attendance
while the noontime sun has again come to hover

end it, end it now, i implore and i say
end whatever illness has stayed with you this long
look forward to days of your freedom ahead
at first you were mistaken, but you were never wrong... on a shadowed staircase, a case in point
what comes to visit in the night?
something desperate, between a dream and a prophet
it's the possibilities that cause you fright

while the noontime sun has again come to hover

end it, end it now, i implore and i say
end whatever illness has stayed with you this long
look forward to days of your freedom ahead
