these tired limbs have found their mate
in this withered torso that they hate
why can't they just be grateful that
they’re not my blistered toes?

or better yet my aching fingers
that crash with keys as sharp as stingers
of hornets while their nest still lingers
somewhere along the clothesline
where my words dry out in rows

from mental flames that will abate
when the last few brain cells evaporate
the good King Neuron has been irate
his gilal* wife has failed to call
and so his anger grows

no longer saved from these wicked dreams
as six hundred mitzvot* grab at the seams
of my soul draped in remnants of evil schemes
with cold hands demons writhe away in the dark
and nobody cares or even knows

emotions and blood spilled at an alarming rate
having drowned me SLASH flooded my now vacant estate
if genotypes are expressed phenotypically* as fate
why do we even bother to swim
as life is predicated by future woes?

too weary from life to take this last breath
the fruits of my labor consumed in the depth
of blankets and sheets that smother like death
left to swim alone in this lake of fire
while on the shore my halo surely glows*

*Notes That Clarify: 1. Gilal cells are another form of brain cells and function as the "support group" of neurons. 2. Mitzvot is the plural form of mitzvah, and in this sense are the commandments of g-d. Six hundred and thirteen are found in the Torah. Another seven rabbinical mitzvot exist as well. 3. Genotype is used in reference to your actual genetic make up. A phenotype refers to how that genetic trait is expressed. My mother and father have red hair. I have jet black hair. I have the "red head" genes that they do as well, but older genes were phenotypically expressed (i.e. grandparents). 4. In Judaism the soul has three parts. One is simply the life force that keeps you breathing, and returns to g-d upon death. The second is what animates the body, and could be thought of as your willpower / "horsepower" and goes with you to your grave. The third is you, your thoughts, experience, yada yada yada. This is what is judged by g-d. 5. Also, in Judaism, "hell" is temporary. G-d is too merciful to condemn someone for eternity (there are some exceptions to this in Kabbalah). Therefore, the light of the halo is the promise that despite my grave sins, there is always, always, still hope to believe in.
