Frail as smoke

I transcend above your heavy form,
casting my Eden sands upon your brow;

I hear you breathing, a moth’s gentle death,
tender against my heart of agonies, and

you are tragic in this mortal light,
a divine sort of decaying that makes up the better half of me.

Engorged, I sink like the ship you often dream of,
flooded with your oceans, your vast impurities,
sick with longing as I plummet into the endless songs you
kept hidden beneath your withered breast.

With a calm severity, I wrap myself in the many folds of your dreaming skull,

This is how I want to die.

I fill myself with your acrid dust, decorate my beggar bones with starlit webs
in hopes of trapping you –

Would you survive my scrutiny? Would I cradle your frantic prayers as I make you wingless?

Wake unto requiems sobbed with your voice,
you are made of tears shed by dying gods –

resolved in your annihilation,
you shudder between my hands like a broken offering,
whimpering your surrender, accepting your fragilty;

{ a heart of laments }

I compress it softly,
whisper thorns into its battered lungs til it
bursts with my madness,
the madness you kindle with your delicate distortions,
your guileless masks.

I would howl in this natural suffering,
shake you with my furious obsessions, the chaos that reflects secretly in your
eyes of midnight rain.

I would carve sonnets into horizons,
find nourishment in the blood of your name,

I would liberate you with my tender cruelty,
my murderous passion –

Sweet victim, I would love you as the fragile child.
