The only path I've come to know
These last four years will be forgotten in time
And now I have nothing left to show

Surrounded by the fake, the hypocrite, the horny
The aged, the liars, the forgotten, the boring

I can't stand to see another sad ***** face in this town
You've brought it upon yourself
You've come to accept it now
You wonder why you've changed somehow

Shadows of our former selves
Headless fools running around
Racing towards the finish line
To be the first to end a pointless life

The youth have aged behind their years
And the adults have all become ancient
When will the children begin to reject
All that they try to teach us

I find myself on this road again
For once I'd like to get lost in the dark
Maybe at least for a moment I can come to respect
From what nobody has yet to embark

A life worth saving
A chance worth taking
Doing something with meaning
A change worth making

But I find myself on this road again
A path I never knew
Because from this day forward
I'll never look back
But I'll always remember you [comments] => 1 [counter] => 219 [topic] => 65 [informant] => the_story_of_the_year [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => toughstuff ) Your Poetry Dot Com - The Fake, The Forgotten
